How it started

Establishing B Bloom N Spots Farm has been my lifetime goal. When I was about one year old, I sat on a pony. I must have known then that I was only going to be really happy around horses! When I was eleven, Disney's Wonderful World of Color showed the movie "RUN, APPALOOSA, RUN". From that day, my heart has belonged to the Appaloosa horse. I avidly devoured "THE APPALOOSA NEWS" from cover to cover until the next issue came.

I began to correspond with a gentleman in Colorado who had owned a horse that fascinated me. P.S. "Doc" Edwards was kind enough to answer that little girl's letters. Sundance F-500 was long gone, but Doc had a grandson of his, Shiek's Blue Sun ApHC #T112839. I wrote to Mr. Edwards for two years while simultaneously begging my father to buy the horse. We lived in Alabama when I started the pursuit of my dream horse. My Dad contacted my uncle in Oklahoma. Then Mr. Edwards had Shiek and two mares delivered there. I met him in the flesh at my grandparent's in Texas for the best Christmas of my life!

He was a perfect example of a foundation Appaloosa. My brothers and I would groom him. One of us sat backwards on his back doing the top of his tail while another stood behind him doing the bottom! Nothing phased him. He would gladly babysit for hours. I will never forget him. My current herd sire Shyloc's Cody ApHC #346072 is his sister's grandson.
